SOUTHINGTON - The Southington girls soccer team’s shutout streak may have ended last week, but the winning streak is showing no signs of stopping.

The Blue Knights, entering Thursday’s game against Plainville with a perfect 9-0 record, blanked the Blue Devils in a dominant 5-0 win to move to 10-0 with just two games left to play in the regular season.

Southington closes out the season with games against Avon and Farmington, two teams it shut out earlier in the year by a combined score of 6-0.

Southington put the game away early, getting goals by four different players in the first half to take a 4-0 lead at the break. Allison and Jessica Carr started the scoring before Shannon Litchfield and Maya Wroblewski added unassisted goals before the halftime whistle.

Micaela Potamis put home the final goal in the second half off a feed from Riley Prozzo.

It was a quiet day in net for Blue Knights goalkeeper Emily Eigo, who didn’t need to make a save all afternoon, but Plainville’s Amber St. Onge was busy on the other side, making 26 saves on 31 shots on goal, while the Southington defense allowed no shots on goal in an overwhelming performance.

Berlin 4, Maloney 1: The Redcoats overwhelmed the Spartans on Thursday thanks to a balanced scoring attack that included goals from four different players.

Jenna Zup, Ashley Wenzel, Julia Salina and Sam Negrao all found the back of the net for Berlin, which faces Maloney again next week in the regular season finale.

"I could not be more proud of how we played, especially in today's conditions," head coach Alex Joslyn said after Thursday's rainy victory. "My senior class, including my captains, continue to show phenomenal leadership"
