BERLIN - Berlin boys basketball defeated Platt on Monday, winning 66-53.
The Redcoat boys had 33 points at the break, leading by six at 33-27. The lead was held through the second half with four Berlin player entering double-digit scoring.
River Eberhardt was the leader in points for Berlin at 14. Marino Fanelli and Zachary Skinner each scored 11 points, while Toby Lavender added 10 points to the game.
Makahi Anderson had 24 points to lead Platt. Anthony Nimani had 17 points.
Farmington 56, Southington 30: Southington boys basketball lost to Farmington Monday night in a 56-30 score. Southington trailed 30-10 entering halftime and struggled to close the difference in the second half, leading to the loss. Aidan Buck was the leading scorer for Southington, scoring 14 points. Ryan Hammarlund added 13 points for the Blue Knights. Farmington was led in scoring by Jared Young with 19 pints. Tobin Grande scored 14 points.
Middletown 67, Bristol Eastern 51: Middletown boys basketball knocked off Bristol Eastern Monday night, winning 67-51.
Eastern fell behind in the first quarter, trailing 17-5. The Lancers gained one point on Middletown with a 19-18 second quarter by connecting on five 3-pointers - one by Nate Fries and two each from Ben D'Amato and Brayden Dauphinais.
Eastern again saw Middletown rush away in scoring with a 20-7 third quarter on its way to the win.
D'Amato and Dauphinais each scored 13 points with Fries scoring nine to lead the Lancers.
Berlin 68, Platt 33: Berlin girls basketball defeated Platt on Monday, winning 68-33. A 24-point first quarter shot the Redcoat girls ahead in the win, and an 18-point fourth quarter put an exclamation point on a big win for Berlin on the road.
Leading in scoring or Berlin was Kailee DeMaio with 13 points. Janessa Yaconiello added nine points while Ava Desmarais and Emma Ellison each had eight points.
The leading scorer for Platt was Kitrystina Campbell with 10 points.
Middletown 62, Bristol Eastern 54: Bristol Eastern lost to Middletown on Monday.
Middletown led throughout the game, going ahead 16-9 through the first quarter, extending its lead at 33-25 at halftime. Eastern closed the gap to three at the end of the third, but couldn't even the score. Ciara Collins had 29 points in the loss with Janessa Gonzalez adding 12 points. Tyah Pettaway had 22 points, leading Middletown.
BOYS ICE HOCKEY
Enfield 6, Plainville co-op 4: Plainville's co-op boys ice hockey team lost to Enfield on Monday, falling 6-4.
Enfield scored the first three goals of the game before Gabe Boily, scoring off an assist from Brody Davidson. Connor Konopha scored five minutes after Boily, at 7:37 in the second period, off a feed from Ryan Brady to make it 3-2.
Enfield added another score to extend its lead again, but was answered by a score from Owen Davidson. Davidson followed up with another goal, this time a quarter of a way into the third period, to even up the score at 4-4.
A Josh Tyler go-ahead goal and a Luke Arsenault insurance goal late in the third period put Enfield ahead before the final horn.
