James Robert Dawe

James Robert Dawe of San Diego, 76, who was born in Bristol, on Aug. 12, 1945 to John and Madeline Dawe, passed away on Oct. 21, 2021 after a brief battle with cancer. Jim taught in Los Angeles before moving to San Diego as a land use law lawyer. He chaired the San Diego Library Commission, the California State Library Board, the Urban Libraries Council and the San Diego Public Library Foundation. Jim was predeceased by his father, John Dawe, and son Jeremy. Jim is survived by his wife Mary; daughters Emily (David) and Sarah (Ryan); sisters Shirley and Jane; his mother Madeline of Murrieta, CA, two grandchildren and other family members.
